Intended Duration: 5 minutes
Actual Duration: 9 minutes
Sound: Sigur Ros, Hrafntinna
Affirmations: I counted my breaths for a few and let the music carry me away.
Visions: Today the visual experience was rich. I have a vast and creative place that I often visit during meditation. Over the years, I've either found or envisioned spirit guide animals, my higher self, a meditation tree that houses my chakras, landscapes, and guides to assist me along the way. It's taken a long time for this sacred space to become what it is today. There is so much that exists in this place- I feel like it is the core of me. I find support and insight here, especially at my meditation tree.
I feel like I need to tell the story of how my meditation tree grew. I once took a continuing education class that involved a lot of meditation, and it was all about finding your spirit guides. I have a sketch somewhere of what I saw during one of these meditations. I'll have to find it and post it when I do.
During the initial meditation, I was nervous about what I might see or experience, not knowing too much about meditation at that point in my life. The instructor guided the class- and I found myself on an isolated beach, looking out across a bay to a rocky cliff. I suddenly found myself pulled into the water, diving deep- there might have been a dolphin assisting me across to the bottom of the cliff. I got out of the water, and there was a small door. The key to it was in my hand. I opened it, and inside were glowing, twisting, uphill tunnels. I followed them, and they led me to the other side of the cliff- only now I was at the top, looking out over a vast ocean. I sat on a rock there. That was the ending of that meditation.
When I did my own meditations afterwards, I purposely allowed information about my chakras to come through. Everything was rudimentary looking and incredibly symbolic. A tree took shape, and I later found out that this is a common symbol for people when they meditate. The roots of the tree in the earth and the branches reaching for the sky integrate the yin/yang energies that flow through everyone. My tree grew slowly over time. During each chakra meditation, I would find it becoming more intricate, more vibrant, and more wise. I use my meditation tree as a map for reading other people's chakras. I've learned a lot about different symbols, and their meanings as I have practiced more.
Today I took a sweeping journey of my meditative space. I felt like the music really encouraged that. It helped me to infuse a refreshing energetic burst into my soul being. I was uplifted by the experience.
After Thoughts: This challenge is fascinating and exciting to me. I haven't meditated so diligently in years, and I feel so good being able to do so. The more I do it, the more readily I settle into meditative space. It is becoming easier to allow the day to day brain happenings to melt into nothingness.
Vision: A hand holding a torch overflowing with light and color
